A tradition of horse racing in Sri Lanka that dates back 150 years to 1860 continues April 14 at the up country Nuwara Eliya Race Course with the 124th Governor’s Cup, the most prestigious race on the calendar. The Nuwara Eliya meet, which attracts the glitterati of Sri Lankan society, also holds races on April 17 and April 24. The meet is conducted by the Sri Lanka Turf Club.
