The following two photos were posted on the website of the Hong Kong Jockey Club and were brought to my attention by Paula Weglarz on Facebook. Trained by Wesley Ward and owned by Ken and Sarah Ramsey, Cannonball will contest the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Sprint at Sha Tin Racecourse on Dec. 13. The homebred son of Catienus — recently relocated to New York — was third in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint last out at Santa Anita and ran second in the Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot this summer. Cannonball is expected to race in Australia as well, where he will be stabled with Gai Waterhouse. See this blog post about Cannonball’s Asian forays on the Foolish Pleasure blog, dated Oct. 9 and reported well before the racing media had a clue.
