Age of Jape (POL) wins St. Leger, takes Czech triple crown
Age of Jape (POL), the best 3-year-old in Eastern/Central Europe, won the Tattersalls St. Leger today at Velka Chuchle over 2800 meters and completed the Czech triple crown in the process. Now a winner of 9 of 10 starts, the Polish-bred son of the Alleged stallion Jape had earlier won the Czech 2000 Guineas and Derby, along with the Slovak Derby at Bratislava. Age of Jape defeated Irish-bred Mariydi and German-bred Ramblin Scout in the St. Leger.
Owned by Baca Palkovice and trained by Frantisek Holcak, Age of Jape has won all 6 starts in 2009, and 9 in a row. His only loss was a second place in his debut at 2, in Poland.
