Istanbul International Racing Festival set for next week

  1. Probably the most overlooked event in International racing, kudos for digging it up!

I’m especially anxious to see if Halicarnassus can improve Kite Wood’s Freer Stakes victory, or if Sassoaloro actually ends up winning a race, instead of just looking promising for the umpteenth time.

There is some suspense, but I never understood why Veliefendi (a fine track, as far as one can say from the distance) doesn’t attract a couple of Europe’s top horses with those races. By International standards, shipping from Western Europe to Istanbul really doesn’t seem much of an issue.

  2. Thx Malcer…problem is where it falls on the calender, for one, as far as top horses go, along with championship ramifications, but i agree, the purse of the mile race and the recent Group acceptance should attract better runners in the future.

Perhaps it will be a candidate for your 10 weirdest tracks in the future, along with Nuwara Eliya in Sri Lanka!
