Racing journalism — what’s left of it — plays everything straight. It’s the 6:00 ‘clock news on one of the three commercial networks, plain vanilla.
Some of the most interesting writing and subject matter, in contrast, is on the blogosphere, where several first-rate writers, without constraints from stuffed-shirt editors, free-style on a variety of issues. One such blog is The Dresden File, and its author, Malcer, is at work right now on The World’s Weirdest Racetracks — a terrific 10-part series. So far, he’s written on #10 to #7.
