The Brazilian publication Raia Leve reported today that Darley’s Elusive Quality, sire of Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Raven’s Pass, Kentucky Derby winner Smarty Jones and leading 2009 3-year-old Quality Road, will shuttle to Stud TNT in Bage, Brazil, for the 2009 Southern Hemisphere season. Goncalo Borges Torrealba’s Stud TNT, the publication reported in another article, also will be the base for 10 Darley mares that will be shipped to Brazil to be bred on Southern Hemisphere time, and the publication said there also is the possibility that Darley would send horses to be campaigned in Brazil.
Sheikh Mohammed has purchased a number of South American racing prospects this year alone, and this venture represents another step in his global expansion.
