Riyasat (Senure – by Razeen) stunned the Indian Oaks (Indian Group 1) field, coming from last to first in the long Mahalakshmi straight in Mumbai with a sparkling run and returned Rs. 355 for win and Rs. 64 for a place on the Tote. Reluctant to enter the stalls, Daniel Grant dropped Riyasat to the tail-end as Congrats cut solid fractions upfront. The Bangalore Derby winner — and the odds on favourite — Icebreaker (by Alnasr Alwasheek) flattered briefly as she took over shortly after straightening but was soon beaten by Nora (by Placerville) who herself had no answer to Riyasat’s late dash. The Katrak-trained filly won by three-parts of a length from Nora with Icebreaker two and a quarter lengths behind in third. A time of 2.30 for the 2400 meters made it the fastest ever Indian Oaks. Riyasat is owned by Mr. & Mrs.Shapoor Mistry — owner of the Manjri Stud where the filly was born — and Mr. Ram Shroff.
