Video: Goldikova defeated in Prix Jacques Le Marois today

Returning to the races two weeks after winning the Group 1 Prix Rothschild against fillies at the same track, Goldikova was defeated in Deauville’s Group 1 Prix du Haras De Fresnay-Le-Buffard Jacques Le Marois today by Immortal Verse, a three-year-old Pivotal filly that won the Group 1 Coronation Stakes over good to soft ground last out and relished the similar going today. Last year in the same race with the going softer than it was today, Goldikova was defeated by Makfi. The six-year-old champion battled today as she had last year and went down fighting despite the cut in ground that favored the winner. Goldikova was a length behind the winner and a nose ahead of her rival Sahpresa—second last out to her in the Rothschild. None of the colts factored in the finish.
