J J The Jet Plane, the heralded South African sprinter, lost some luster in Dubai last winter and flat out bombed as a high-level performer in Britain last summer after winning his European debut in a Listed race at Windsor for Mike de Kock. By the time he was sent back to South Africa he was reportedly a physical and emotional shell of the former icon who’d left home as a legend. Now trained and rehabilitated by Lucky Houdalakis, J J The Jet Plane has remarkably returned to the top echelon of international sprinters, and he emphatically proved the point at Sha Tin today with an epic win over Singapore’s internationally skakebit Rocket Man and the outstanding but aging Hong Kong ace Sacred Kingdom in the G1 Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Sprint over 1200 meters.
