The following videos of Venezuelan sensation Bambera and her Mexican counterpart, Vivian Record, were shot in Puerto Rico recently. Both will contest the Clasico del Caribe tomorrow at Puerto Rico’s Hipodromo Camarero. The $300,000 race is the region’s most prestigious international event for 3-year-olds. Bambera has won 15 of 17 starts and is the Rachel Alexandra of Venezuela. Vivian Record has 9 wins from 13 starts. She’s won her last 7 consecutive starts by open lengths in Mexico and is just as much an icon there as Bambera is in Venezuela. Both fillies have defeated colts, and both have similar running styles. Vivian Record, a daughter of former New York sire Abaginone, has to have the lead; Bambera can track the pace. The finish of the Clasico del Caribe should be decided between them. In the 41-year history of the race, only four fillies have won it.
